What did this summer reveal about your garden?
Do not simply refill the gaps this autumn. Turn summer planting losses into a more beautiful, resilient and considered garden scheme.
A gap in a border is rarely just an empty space. After a hot, dry summer, it can be a clue.
It may show where the soil loses moisture quickly, where paving reflects additional heat or where a plant was never suited to the conditions. Replacing it like for like may restore the border briefly, but it does not address the reason the planting struggled.
At Cambridgeshire Garden Design, we look at the scheme as a whole. We consider soil, aspect, exposure and maintenance expectations alongside colour, form, texture and the views from your home. The aim is not a sparse or generic “dry garden”, but a layered, personal composition with year-round structure and plants chosen for the conditions they will actually experience.
Autumn creates a valuable opportunity to rethink the balance. The result can be more resilient, more coherent and every bit as beautiful.
